Background
This product is an unconjugated, non-therapeutic recombinant analog of losatuxizumab, an anti-EGFR (epidermal growth factor receptor) human IgG1-kappa antibody built around the same target. It is supplied for research use only (RUO) and is not the clinical drug, nor is it intended for human or veterinary use. As a bulk, unmodified analog, it is useful as a defined anti-EGFR binding reagent in a range of preclinical and in-vitro workflows: receptor-binding and affinity characterization, ligand-blocking and neutralization assays, competition studies against other EGFR binders, and as a positive control or benchmarking reagent when profiling EGFR-directed candidates. Because the parent molecule underlies an antibody-drug-conjugate program, the naked analog is also a practical starting scaffold for ADC-development chemistry, payload-conjugation optimization, and internalization studies. It is offered at research grade (low endotoxin, typically <1 EU/mg) with ultra-low-endotoxin (<0.5 EU/mg) options, and can be produced at milligram-to-gram scale to support assay development, reagent standardization, and larger preclinical experiments requiring a consistent, well-characterized EGFR-targeting antibody. EGFR (epidermal growth factor receptor; ERBB1/HER1, UniProt P00533) is a single-pass transmembrane receptor tyrosine kinase of the ErbB family. Ligands such as EGF and TGF-alpha bind the extracellular domain, driving receptor homo- and heterodimerization (including with HER2/HER3), which activates the intracellular kinase domain and trans-autophosphorylation of C-terminal tyrosines. These phosphotyrosines recruit adaptors that engage the RAS-RAF-MEK-ERK, PI3K-AKT, and STAT pathways, promoting proliferation, survival, and migration. EGFR is essential in epithelial development and tissue homeostasis. Aberrant activation through overexpression, activating mutations, or gene amplification is a well-established oncogenic driver in non-small-cell lung, colorectal, head and neck, and other epithelial cancers, making EGFR a validated therapeutic and reagent target.
