Background
This product is an unconjugated, non-therapeutic recombinant analog of the anti-EGFR antibody pimurutamab, supplied for research use only. It is built around the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR, UniProt P00533) as a human IgG1/kappa immunoglobulin and is not the clinical drug; it is not intended for human or veterinary use. As a research-grade biosimilar it is useful wherever a well-defined, sequence-consistent anti-EGFR reagent is needed: as an isotype-matched positive control alongside other anti-EGFR tools, as a benchmarking standard in binding and neutralisation assays, as a capture or detection reagent for EGFR, and as a starting scaffold for antibody-drug-conjugate (ADC) or bispecific development work. The human IgG1 backbone makes it suitable for interrogating Fc-dependent effector activity such as ADCC and CDC in vitro. It is offered at low endotoxin (research grade <1 EU/mg; ultra-low <0.5 EU/mg) and in bulk milligram-to-gram quantities to support reproducible in-vitro and preclinical experiments, cell-based screens, and formulation or assay-development workflows. EGFR (epidermal growth factor receptor; ErbB1/HER1, UniProt P00533) is a single-pass transmembrane receptor tyrosine kinase and a founding member of the ErbB/HER family. Ligands such as EGF, TGF-alpha, amphiregulin and others bind the extracellular domain, driving receptor homodimerisation or heterodimerisation with HER2, HER3 or HER4. Dimerisation activates the intracellular kinase domain, triggering trans-autophosphorylation of C-terminal tyrosines and downstream signalling through the RAS-RAF-MEK-ERK, PI3K-AKT and JAK-STAT pathways, which govern proliferation, survival, migration and differentiation. EGFR overexpression, activating mutations and gene amplification are recurrent drivers in epithelial cancers including non-small-cell lung, colorectal and head-and-neck tumours, making the receptor a heavily validated therapeutic and research target for both antibody and small-molecule approaches.
