Background
This product is an unconjugated, non-therapeutic recombinant analog of the anti-EGFR antibody laprituximab, supplied strictly for research use only. It is a human IgG1/kappa immunoglobulin engineered to bind the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR, UniProt P00533), reproducing the antigen-binding specificity of the originator molecule while carrying no drug conjugate or therapeutic formulation. It is not the clinical drug and is not intended for human or veterinary use. The preparation is useful as a defined, reproducible binding reagent for EGFR-focused workflows: as a positive control or reference antibody in receptor-binding and neutralisation assays, as a benchmarking tool during antibody or ADC development against EGFR, and as a component in in-vitro cell-based and preclinical model systems. It is offered at research grade with low endotoxin (typically <1 EU/mg, with ultra-low <0.5 EU/mg options) and is available in bulk milligram-to-gram quantities to support screening campaigns, assay standardisation, and reagent-hungry experimental pipelines where lot consistency and cost efficiency matter. EGFR (epidermal growth factor receptor; ErbB1/HER1, UniProt P00533) is a single-pass transmembrane receptor tyrosine kinase of the ErbB family. Ligands such as EGF and TGF-alpha bind its extracellular domain, driving receptor homodimerisation or heterodimerisation with other ErbB members (notably HER2/ErbB2). Dimerisation activates the intracellular kinase domain, triggering trans-autophosphorylation of cytoplasmic tyrosines and downstream signalling through the RAS-RAF-MEK-ERK, PI3K-AKT, and STAT pathways to promote proliferation, survival, migration, and differentiation. EGFR overexpression, activating mutations, and gene amplification are recurrent drivers in epithelial cancers, including non-small-cell lung, colorectal, and head-and-neck carcinomas, making the receptor a heavily studied oncology target for antibodies and small-molecule kinase inhibitors.
