Background
This product is an unconjugated, non-therapeutic recombinant analog of the anti-CTLA-4 antibody muzastotug, supplied for research use only. It is a human IgG1-kappa immunoglobulin built around the CTLA-4 (CD152) target, intended as a laboratory reagent for studying CTLA-4 biology and checkpoint-blockade mechanisms, not as the clinical SAFEbody drug and not for human or veterinary use. Because it is an unconjugated full-length human IgG1, it is well suited to in-vitro binding and neutralization assays, receptor-ligand (CTLA-4/CD80/CD86) competition studies, ADCC and Treg-depletion assay development, and as an isotype-matched positive control or benchmark against other anti-CTLA-4 reagents. It is offered at research grade with low endotoxin (typically <1 EU/mg, with ultra-low <0.5 EU/mg options) and can be produced in bulk milligram-to-gram quantities to support assay standardization, screening cascades, and preclinical workflows. Lot-to-lot consistency and defined formulation make it appropriate for reproducible functional characterization and for use as a reference standard in immuno-oncology research pipelines.
CTLA-4 (cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated protein 4, CD152; UniProt P16410) is an inhibitory immune-checkpoint receptor expressed on activated conventional T cells and constitutively on regulatory T cells (Tregs). It is a homolog of the costimulatory receptor CD28 and binds the same ligands, CD80 (B7-1) and CD86 (B7-2), on antigen-presenting cells but with substantially higher affinity and avidity. By outcompeting CD28 for these ligands, and via transendocytosis that strips B7 molecules from APCs, CTLA-4 dampens the costimulatory signal required for full T-cell activation, delivering a key negative regulatory brake on T-cell responses and contributing to peripheral tolerance. In tumors, CTLA-4 is enriched on intratumoral Tregs, making it a central target for checkpoint blockade and for antibody-dependent Treg depletion strategies aimed at enhancing antitumor immunity.
