Background
This product is a research-grade, unconjugated recombinant analog of nurulimab, an anti-CTLA-4 (CD152) monoclonal antibody, offered strictly for research use only. It is a non-therapeutic biosimilar built around the human CTLA-4 target and is not the clinical drug; it is not intended for human or veterinary use. The recombinant human IgG1/kappa format reproduces the target-binding behavior of the originator, making it useful as a reference and control reagent in checkpoint-biology workflows. Typical research applications include in-vitro binding and blocking assays, immune-checkpoint signaling studies, ADCC/effector-function characterization, antibody-engineering and biosimilarity comparisons, and use as a positive control or benchmarking standard alongside other anti-CTLA-4 tools. It is supplied at research-grade low endotoxin (<1 EU/mg), with an ultra-low endotoxin option (<0.5 EU/mg) and in-vivo-standard grades available, and can be provided in bulk milligram-to-gram quantities to support screening, assay development, and preclinical model work. Because the target is human CTLA-4, cross-reactivity and model selection should be confirmed empirically for each experimental system.
CTLA-4 (CD152; UniProt P16410) is an inhibitory immune-checkpoint receptor of the immunoglobulin superfamily, expressed on activated conventional T cells and constitutively on regulatory T cells (Tregs). It shares the B7 ligands CD80 and CD86 with the co-stimulatory receptor CD28 but binds them with markedly higher avidity, thereby outcompeting CD28 and dampening the co-stimulatory signal required for full T-cell activation. CTLA-4 also physically removes CD80/CD86 from antigen-presenting cells by trans-endocytosis and recruits phosphatases that attenuate TCR signaling. Through these mechanisms it enforces peripheral tolerance and restrains excessive T-cell responses. Blocking CTLA-4 lowers the activation threshold and enhances T-cell priming and effector function, which is the rationale behind checkpoint-blockade approaches in tumor immunology.
