Background
This product is an unconjugated, non-therapeutic recombinant analog of the anti-CTLA-4 antibody evalstotug, produced for research use only and not intended for human or veterinary use. It is a human IgG1-kappa immunoglobulin engineered to bind the human cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated protein 4 (CTLA-4, UniProt P16410), making it a useful tool reagent for interrogating the CTLA-4 immune checkpoint axis in a controlled setting. Researchers use analogs like this as consistent, well-characterized binders for in-vitro receptor-blocking assays, as reference or benchmarking controls against other anti-CTLA-4 clones, for ADCC/effector-function and antibody-engineering workflows, and in preclinical target-validation studies. It is supplied at low endotoxin levels (research grade typically <1 EU/mg, with ultra-low <0.5 EU/mg options) and available in bulk milligram-to-gram quantities to support assay development, screening campaigns, and scale-dependent experiments. Because it is an analog built around the CTLA-4 target rather than the clinical drug substance, it should be treated strictly as a laboratory research reagent. CTLA-4 (cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated protein 4, CD152; UniProt P16410) is an inhibitory immune checkpoint receptor expressed on activated conventional T cells and constitutively on regulatory T cells (Tregs). It is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily and shares the B7 ligands CD80 (B7-1) and CD86 (B7-2) with the costimulatory receptor CD28, but binds them with markedly higher affinity. By outcompeting CD28 for these ligands and by physically removing B7 molecules from antigen-presenting cells via trans-endocytosis, CTLA-4 dampens the costimulatory signals required for full T-cell activation. This delivers a critical negative regulatory brake that maintains peripheral tolerance and limits autoimmunity. Because CTLA-4 blockade can release this brake and enhance antitumor T-cell responses, the receptor is a central node in cancer immunotherapy and a widely studied checkpoint target.
