Background
This product is an unconjugated, non-therapeutic recombinant analog of the anti-GM-CSF antibody Plonmarlimab, supplied for research use only. It is a fully recombinant human IgG1/kappa protein engineered to recognize human granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF, gene CSF2, UniProt P04141), the same cytokine target as the originator molecule. Because it reproduces the binding specificity of a clinically studied GM-CSF neutralizer, it is a convenient reference reagent for laboratories studying GM-CSF biology, cytokine-blockade mechanisms, and myeloid inflammation without sourcing or repurposing the clinical drug. Typical research applications include use as a functional positive control, a benchmarking antibody in neutralization and binding assays, a comparator in biosimilarity or bioanalytical method development, and a tool for probing GM-CSF-driven signaling in vitro. It is offered at research grade with low endotoxin (<1 EU/mg; ultra-low <0.5 EU/mg options), and in bulk milligram-to-gram quantities suitable for assay development and preclinical characterization. It is not the clinical drug and is not intended for human or veterinary use.
GM-CSF (granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor), encoded by CSF2, is a monomeric glycoprotein cytokine secreted by T cells, macrophages, endothelial cells, and fibroblasts, typically in response to inflammatory stimuli. It signals through a heterodimeric receptor composed of a ligand-specific alpha chain (CSF2RA) and the shared beta common chain (CSF2RB), triggering JAK2/STAT5, PI3K, and MAPK pathways. GM-CSF drives the differentiation, survival, and activation of granulocytes, monocytes/macrophages, and dendritic cells, and promotes a pro-inflammatory myeloid phenotype. It is a key regulator of emergency myelopoiesis and is implicated in inflammatory and autoimmune conditions, including macrophage activation syndrome and cytokine-driven pathology, making its neutralization a widely studied anti-inflammatory strategy.
