Background
This product is an unconjugated, non-therapeutic recombinant analog of namilumab, a fully human anti-GM-CSF monoclonal antibody (human IgG1, kappa) that binds the cytokine granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF, encoded by CSF2; UniProt P04141). It is supplied for research use only and is not the clinical drug; it is not intended for human or veterinary use. Built around the GM-CSF target, it is useful as a well-defined tool for studying GM-CSF neutralization and GM-CSF-driven myeloid biology in vitro. Typical research applications include use as a positive/reference binder in ligand-capture and neutralization assays, as an isotype-matched benchmark for characterizing other anti-GM-CSF reagents, and as a control in cell-based assays of myeloid differentiation and activation. It is offered at research grade with low endotoxin (<1 EU/mg; ultra-low <0.5 EU/mg options), in bulk milligram-to-gram quantities suitable for assay development, screening cascades, and preclinical experimental work. As with all biosimilar tool antibodies, users should validate lot performance in their own assay system. CSF2 encodes granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF), a secreted glycoprotein cytokine produced by activated T cells, macrophages, endothelial cells, and fibroblasts. GM-CSF signals through a heterodimeric receptor comprising a ligand-specific alpha chain (CSF2RA) and the shared beta chain (CSF2RB, also used by IL-3 and IL-5), triggering JAK2/STAT5, PI3K, and MAPK pathways. It promotes the survival, proliferation, and differentiation of granulocyte and macrophage progenitors and licenses inflammatory activation of mature myeloid cells, dendritic cells, and tissue macrophages. Beyond hematopoiesis, GM-CSF is a key driver of inflammatory and autoimmune tissue damage, coordinating pathogenic myeloid responses; it is also essential for alveolar macrophage function and pulmonary surfactant clearance. These roles make GM-CSF an important therapeutic and research target in inflammatory disease.
