Background
This is clone G11, a mouse monoclonal antibody of the IgG2a isotype (mouse host) directed against human CD2 (UniProt P06729). It is offered as a bulk, research-use-only reagent manufactured to low-endotoxin standards, making it well suited to functional immunology and cell-signalling studies where large or repeated antibody quantities are required. As a well-characterised anti-human CD2 clone, it is validated for Western blot and functional assays, and its bulk format supports scale-up work such as T-cell and NK-cell activation or blocking experiments, ex vivo stimulation panels, and assay development where consistent lot performance across many samples matters. The mouse IgG2a backbone is a common, well-understood isotype for in-vitro functional work. Because CD2 is a human target, this antibody is intended for human-cell and human-tissue studies rather than mouse in-vivo models. Its combination of defined clonality, low endotoxin, and bulk availability makes it a practical choice for laboratories standardising CD2-focused functional readouts at scale.
CD2 (UniProt P06729), also called LFA-2 or the T11/E-rosette receptor, is a cell-surface adhesion and costimulatory glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin superfamily expressed on T cells and natural killer cells. Its principal ligand in humans is CD58 (LFA-3), and engagement of the CD2-CD58 axis strengthens the adhesion between T cells and antigen-presenting or target cells, helping to stabilise the immunological synapse. Beyond adhesion, CD2 delivers costimulatory signals that lower the threshold for T-cell receptor activation and contribute to T-cell proliferation, cytokine production, and NK-cell cytotoxicity. The cytoplasmic tail couples to intracellular signalling and cytoskeletal partners, linking receptor engagement to downstream activation events. Because of these roles in T-cell adhesion and costimulation, CD2 is of long-standing interest in studies of immune synapse formation, lymphocyte activation, and immune modulation.
