Background
This is a research-grade biosimilar of xeligekimab (development code GR1501), supplied as an unconjugated, non-therapeutic analog of the originator antibody for research use only. It is not the clinical drug product and is not intended for human or veterinary use. Xeligekimab is a fully human IgG4-kappa monoclonal antibody engineered to bind and neutralize human interleukin-17A (IL-17A), the pro-inflammatory cytokine encoded at UniProt Q16552. The originator has been advanced clinically for IL-17-driven inflammatory conditions, including moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis and axial spondyloarthritis, where blockade of IL-17A signaling reduces downstream inflammatory mediator release. This biosimilar is built around that same target and binding activity, allowing investigators to study IL-17A engagement and neutralization in a controlled reagent format. It is produced to in-vivo research standards with low endotoxin and is available in bulk milligram-to-gram quantities, making it suitable as a reference or comparator molecule in binding, neutralization, and assay-development work. As with all ichor.bio biosimilars, it is offered as a functional research tool rather than a therapeutic, and results should be interpreted in that context. Interleukin-17A (IL-17A, UniProt Q16552) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine produced predominantly by Th17 cells, as well as gamma-delta T cells, innate lymphoid cells, and other immune populations. It signals as a disulfide-linked homodimer, and also as an IL-17A/IL-17F heterodimer, through a receptor complex comprising IL-17RA and IL-17RC. Engagement drives NF-kB and MAPK signaling, inducing chemokines such as CXCL1, cytokines including IL-6, antimicrobial peptides, and matrix-remodeling factors. This axis contributes to mucosal and barrier defense against extracellular bacteria and fungi, but sustained or dysregulated IL-17A activity promotes tissue inflammation. IL-17A is a well-established driver in psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, and axial spondyloarthritis, which is why antibodies that neutralize the cytokine and block its receptor interaction are of significant research and therapeutic interest.
