Background
This product is an unconjugated, non-therapeutic recombinant analog of perakizumab (developmental code RG4934), an anti-IL-17A antibody on a human IgG1/kappa framework. It reproduces the antigen-binding specificity of the originator against human interleukin-17A but is manufactured strictly for research use only; it is not the clinical drug and is not intended for human or veterinary use. As a benchtop reagent it is useful for characterizing IL-17A biology and for antibody-workflow controls: binding and neutralization assays against recombinant human IL-17A, epitope and cross-reactivity comparisons, standardization across lots and instruments, and as a benchmark or isotype-matched positive control in screening campaigns. The intact IgG1 Fc also supports Fc-dependent studies and development work such as ADCC-format or ADC-linker feasibility, where a well-defined anti-cytokine binder is needed. It is supplied at research grade with low endotoxin (typically under 1 EU/mg, with an ultra-low option under 0.5 EU/mg) and is available in bulk milligram-to-gram quantities suitable for assay development, preclinical in-vitro models, and formulation studies. IL-17A (gene IL17A; formerly CTLA-8; UniProt Q16552) is a proinflammatory cytokine secreted mainly by Th17 cells, and also by CD8+ T cells, gamma-delta T cells, NKT cells, and innate lymphoid cells. It forms disulfide-linked homodimers, and can also pair with IL-17F as a heterodimer. IL-17A signals through a heteromeric receptor complex of IL-17RA and IL-17RC, recruiting the adaptor Act1 to drive NF-kappaB and MAPK activation. This induces IL-6, G-CSF, GM-CSF, chemokines (such as CXCL1/8), COX-2/PTGS2, and antimicrobial peptides, coordinating neutrophil recruitment and mucosal host defense against extracellular bacteria and fungi. Dysregulated IL-17A drives chronic inflammation and is strongly implicated in psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, rheumatoid arthritis, and multiple sclerosis, making it a validated therapeutic and research target.
