Background
ICH5586 is a research-grade, unconjugated recombinant biosimilar analog of gumokimab, an anti-IL-17A human IgG1/kappa antibody, supplied strictly for research use only and not as the clinical drug. It reproduces the antigen-binding specificity of the originator, which targets human interleukin-17A, making it a convenient tool for studying IL-17A biology and for benchmarking IL-17A-directed molecules in vitro. Typical applications include use as a positive control or reference binder in ELISA, SPR/BLI affinity work, cell-based neutralization assays, and as a capture or detection reagent in IL-17A quantitation. Because it is furnished as a purified antibody without conjugation, it can be labeled, biotinylated, or formatted by the end user as needed, and serves as a starting scaffold for ADCC/ADC and engineering workflows. It is manufactured to low-endotoxin specifications (research grade <1 EU/mg; ultra-low <0.5 EU/mg) and is available in bulk milligram-to-gram quantities to support screening, assay development, and preclinical characterization. Not for human or veterinary therapeutic use. Interleukin-17A (IL-17A, UniProt Q16552) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine produced mainly by Th17 cells, along with gamma-delta T cells, innate lymphoid cells, and neutrophils. It is secreted as a disulfide-linked homodimer and can also form heterodimers with IL-17F. IL-17A signals through a receptor complex of IL-17RA and IL-17RC, recruiting the adaptor Act1 to drive NF-kB, MAPK, and C/EBP pathways. This induces expression of chemokines, antimicrobial peptides, G-CSF, and pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-6, promoting neutrophil recruitment and mucosal host defense against extracellular bacteria and fungi. Dysregulated IL-17A is a central driver of chronic inflammatory and autoimmune disease, notably psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis, which is why IL-17A neutralization is a validated therapeutic axis. It acts largely on epithelial, fibroblast, and endothelial cells.
