Background
This product is an unconjugated, non-therapeutic recombinant analog of ixekizumab, supplied strictly for research use only. It is a humanized IgG4 (S228P-stabilized) kappa antibody built around the same target as the originator drug, human interleukin-17A (IL-17A), and is not the clinical product; it is not intended for human or veterinary use. As a research-grade reagent it is useful as a defined, well-characterized anti-IL-17A binder for in-vitro and preclinical experiments: positive/reference controls in IL-17A binding and neutralization assays, epitope and competition studies, benchmarking of novel anti-IL-17A candidates, ligand-capture and ELISA standardization, surface-plasmon-resonance affinity work, and as a scaffold for ADC or ADCC-format development. The IgG4 S228P mutation stabilizes the hinge and limits Fab-arm exchange, giving consistent bivalent binding. It is offered at low endotoxin (research grade <1 EU/mg; ultra-low <0.5 EU/mg) and in bulk milligram-to-gram quantities suitable for in-vitro standards and larger preclinical studies where lot consistency and format control matter. Interleukin-17A (IL-17A, UniProt Q16552) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine produced mainly by Th17 cells, but also by gamma-delta T cells, innate lymphoid cells, NK cells, and neutrophils. It is secreted as a disulfide-linked homodimer and can also form IL-17A/IL-17F heterodimers. IL-17A signals through a heteromeric receptor complex of IL-17RA and IL-17RC, engaging the adaptor Act1 to activate NF-kB, MAPK, and C/EBP pathways. This drives expression of neutrophil-recruiting chemokines (CXCL1, CXCL8), granulopoietic factors (G-CSF), antimicrobial peptides, and matrix-remodeling mediators, contributing to mucosal and epithelial host defense. Dysregulated IL-17A is central to the pathology of psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and related autoimmune/inflammatory conditions, making it a validated therapeutic and research target for antibody-mediated neutralization.
