Background
This product is an unconjugated, non-therapeutic recombinant analog of miptenalimab, an anti-LAG-3 (CD223) antibody, supplied on a human IgG4 kappa framework and built around the human LAG-3 target (UniProt P18627). It is manufactured for research use only and is not the clinical drug; it is not intended for human or veterinary use. The preparation is provided unconjugated and functions as a research-grade tool for interrogating the LAG-3 immune-checkpoint axis in vitro and in preclinical settings. Typical applications include use as a positive binding or blocking control, a reference reagent in checkpoint-blockade assays, a capture or detection component in immunoassays, and a scaffold for antibody-engineering or ADC/bispecific development workflows. It is available at low endotoxin (research grade <1 EU/mg; ultra-low <0.5 EU/mg options), which suits sensitive cell-based and functional work, and can be produced in bulk milligram-to-gram quantities for screening campaigns and assay standardisation. As an analog rather than the originator product, it is intended to support comparability, method development, and mechanistic research programs. LAG-3 (lymphocyte activation gene 3; CD223) is a type I transmembrane immune-checkpoint receptor structurally related to CD4, expressed on activated T cells, regulatory T cells, natural killer cells, B cells, and plasmacytoid dendritic cells. Its principal ligand is MHC class II, to which it binds with higher affinity than CD4; additional reported ligands include fibrinogen-like protein 1 (FGL1), galectin-3, and LSECtin. Engagement transmits an inhibitory signal that dampens T-cell proliferation, cytokine production, and effector function, and it contributes to the exhausted phenotype of tumour- and chronically-infected-tissue-infiltrating lymphocytes. LAG-3 frequently co-expresses with PD-1, and co-blockade produces additive restoration of T-cell activity, making LAG-3 a validated checkpoint target for cancer immunotherapy research and combination-blockade studies.
