Background
This product is an unconjugated, non-therapeutic recombinant analog of the anti-LAG-3 antibody fianlimab, supplied strictly for research use only. It is a human IgG4-kappa molecule engineered to recognize human LAG-3 (lymphocyte activation gene 3, CD223), the target of the originator drug, and is intended as a laboratory reagent rather than the clinical product; it is not for human or veterinary use. Because LAG-3 is an inhibitory immune checkpoint expressed on activated T cells, an anti-LAG-3 analog is useful for probing checkpoint biology in vitro, serving as a positive or benchmarking control in checkpoint-blockade assays, developing and validating binding and neutralisation readouts, and supporting ADCC or antibody-drug-conjugate development workflows. It is offered as low-endotoxin material (research grade <1 EU/mg; ultra-low <0.5 EU/mg) suitable as an in-vivo-standard reference and is available in bulk milligram-to-gram quantities to support screening, assay standardisation, and preclinical model work. As a research-grade biosimilar analog it lets teams reproduce the binding profile of the originator without sourcing clinical drug. LAG-3 (lymphocyte activation gene 3, CD223) is a type I transmembrane inhibitory receptor structurally related to CD4, with four immunoglobulin-like domains in its extracellular region. It is expressed on activated CD4 and CD8 T cells, regulatory T cells, natural killer cells, B cells, and plasmacytoid dendritic cells, and is a marker of T-cell exhaustion in chronic antigen exposure and tumours. Its best-characterised ligand is MHC class II, to which it binds with higher affinity than CD4; additional ligands include FGL1 (fibrinogen-like protein 1), galectin-3, and LSECtin. Engagement transmits inhibitory signals via its cytoplasmic tail that dampen T-cell proliferation, cytokine production, and effector function. LAG-3 acts as an immune checkpoint, frequently co-expressed with PD-1, and is an established target for cancer immunotherapy aimed at restoring anti-tumour T-cell activity.
