Background
This product is an unconjugated, non-therapeutic recombinant analog of licaminlimab, supplied for research use only. Licaminlimab is a single-chain variable fragment (scFv) engineered to bind and neutralize human tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF). Because the scFv format is much smaller than a full-length IgG, it is a useful research reagent for studying compact TNF-neutralizing binders, tissue-penetration questions, and antibody-fragment engineering. As a research-grade analog built around the same target, it supports side-by-side benchmarking against other anti-TNF reagents, positive/negative controls in TNF-neutralization assays, and method development for binding and blocking readouts. It is offered at low endotoxin (research grade <1 EU/mg; ultra-low <0.5 EU/mg) and in bulk milligram-to-gram quantities to support in-vitro, cell-based, and preclinical workflows. This reagent is not the clinical drug and is not intended for human or veterinary use; it is a laboratory tool for characterizing TNF biology and TNF-directed binder performance. Use it to generate reproducible, well-controlled data in TNF-focused experiments.
TNF (tumor necrosis factor alpha, gene TNF; UniProt P01375) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine produced mainly by activated macrophages and monocytes, as well as T cells, NK cells, and other immune cells. It is synthesized as a type II transmembrane protein that is cleaved by TACE/ADAM17 to release the soluble form; both membrane-bound and soluble TNF are biologically active as homotrimers. TNF signals through two receptors, TNFR1 (p55, TNFRSF1A) and TNFR2 (p75, TNFRSF1B), driving NF-kB and MAPK activation, inflammatory gene expression, and, in some contexts, apoptosis or necroptosis. TNF is a central mediator of acute and chronic inflammation and a validated therapeutic target in autoimmune and inflammatory disease. Its dual signaling and membrane/soluble forms make TNF-neutralizing reagents valuable for dissecting inflammatory pathways.
