Background
This is a research-grade biosimilar of enapotamab, supplied as an unconjugated, non-therapeutic recombinant human IgG1-kappa analog built around the receptor tyrosine kinase AXL (UniProt P30530). Enapotamab was developed clinically as the antibody component of an antibody-drug conjugate (enapotamab vedotin) targeting AXL-expressing tumors; this biosimilar reproduces the antigen-binding specificity of the originator without any cytotoxic payload, and is intended strictly for research use only, not for human or veterinary use. It is a useful tool for laboratories studying AXL biology and for antibody engineering workflows: it serves as a defined positive control in AXL binding and expression assays, as a benchmarking reference for competitor or novel anti-AXL antibodies, and as a naked scaffold for internalization studies and ADC-development pipelines where an unconjugated parental antibody is required. It supports both in-vitro and preclinical in-vivo research applications. The material is offered at research grade with low endotoxin (typically <1 EU/mg, with an ultra-low <0.5 EU/mg option) and is available in bulk milligram-to-gram quantities to support screening, characterization, and reproducibility across studies. AXL (UniProt P30530) is a receptor tyrosine kinase of the TAM family (TYRO3, AXL, MERTK). Its principal ligand is GAS6, which bridges phosphatidylserine on apoptotic cells to AXL, driving receptor dimerization and autophosphorylation. Downstream signaling activates PI3K-AKT, MAPK/ERK, and STAT pathways, promoting cell survival, proliferation, migration, and cytoskeletal remodeling. Physiologically AXL contributes to efferocytosis, innate immune regulation, platelet stabilization, and vascular homeostasis. In cancer, AXL overexpression is associated with epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition, metastasis, immune evasion, and acquired resistance to targeted and cytotoxic therapies, making it an actively pursued oncology target. AXL is also implicated in fibrosis and in viral entry, where it can act as an attachment cofactor. Its broad tumor expression and links to therapy resistance underpin the development of AXL-directed antibodies and antibody-drug conjugates.
