Background
This product is an unconjugated, non-therapeutic recombinant analog of lenzilumab, a fully human IgG1 kappa antibody directed against human granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF, gene CSF2; UniProt P04141). It is manufactured for research use only and is not the clinical drug, not for human or veterinary use. The analog reproduces the binding specificity used to sequester soluble GM-CSF and prevent its engagement of the GM-CSF receptor, making it a convenient tool for studying GM-CSF-driven myeloid activation and inflammatory signalling. Typical research applications include isotype-matched neutralization controls, ligand-capture and binding assays, benchmarking of other anti-GM-CSF reagents, and antibody-engineering or format-comparison work. It is supplied at research grade with low endotoxin (<1 EU/mg; ultra-low <0.5 EU/mg options), in bulk milligram-to-gram quantities suitable for in-vitro and preclinical experimentation and for use as an in-vivo-standard reference material. Because the target is human GM-CSF, the reagent is oriented toward human-cell and human-cytokine systems rather than routine mouse dosing.
CSF2 encodes granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF), a secreted cytokine produced by activated T cells, macrophages, endothelial cells, and fibroblasts. GM-CSF signals through a heterodimeric receptor composed of a ligand-specific alpha chain (CSF2RA) and the shared beta common chain (CSF2RB), triggering JAK2/STAT5, PI3K, and MAPK signalling. It drives the proliferation, survival, differentiation, and activation of granulocytes, monocytes/macrophages, and dendritic cells, and promotes a pro-inflammatory myeloid phenotype. Beyond steady-state myelopoiesis, GM-CSF is a key amplifier in inflammatory and autoimmune settings, licensing tissue-infiltrating myeloid cells and sustaining feedback loops with pathogenic T cells. Because of this central role in myeloid-mediated inflammation, GM-CSF neutralization is studied in models of hyperinflammation, cytokine-release states, and autoimmunity.
