This product is a research-grade biosimilar of lebrikizumab: an unconjugated, non-therapeutic recombinant human IgG4 (S228P) kappa antibody engineered to recognise human interleukin-13 (IL-13). It is not the clinical drug and is intended for research use only, not for human or veterinary application. Supplied unconjugated with low endotoxin (research grade less than 1 EU/mg; ultra-low grade less than 0.5 EU/mg) and available in bulk milligram-to-gram quantities, it is suited to laboratory workflows that require a well-defined, consistent anti-IL-13 reagent. Typical research applications include use as a functional positive control or benchmark in IL-13 binding and neutralisation assays, characterisation of IL-13/receptor signalling in vitro, epitope and affinity comparison studies, assay development and standardisation, and as a comparator molecule in preclinical antibody discovery and biosimilarity programmes. Interleukin-13 (IL-13; UniProt P35225) is a roughly 13 kDa four-helix-bundle cytokine produced mainly by activated Th2 lymphocytes, mast cells, basophils, eosinophils and ILC2 cells. It is a central effector of type 2 immunity and shares many activities with IL-4. IL-13 signals through a receptor system comprising IL-13Ralpha1, which pairs with IL-4Ralpha to form the type II receptor that activates JAK/STAT6 signalling, and the high-affinity decoy receptor IL-13Ralpha2, which sequesters IL-13. Downstream effects include IgE class switching, goblet-cell mucus production, smooth-muscle hyperresponsiveness, eosinophil recruitment, fibroblast activation and tissue remodelling. Dysregulated IL-13 is strongly implicated in asthma, atopic dermatitis and other allergic and fibrotic conditions, making it a validated therapeutic and research target.
