Background
ICH5470 is a research-grade biosimilar of Dectrekumab (originator code QAX576), supplied as an unconjugated, non-therapeutic analog built around the interleukin-13 (IL-13) target. Dectrekumab is a fully human IgG1 kappa monoclonal antibody that binds soluble human IL-13 and neutralises its activity. This preparation is intended strictly for research use only and is not a clinical drug or a substitute for any approved therapeutic. It is produced to research-grade specifications, with low endotoxin levels (typically less than 1 EU/mg), and is available in bulk milligram-to-gram quantities to support larger in-vitro and functional studies. Because it reproduces the binding characteristics of the originator without any conjugation or therapeutic formulation, it is well suited as a reference standard, positive control, or neutralising reagent in assay development, mechanism-of-action work, and comparability studies. As with all ichor.bio biosimilars, the emphasis is on consistent, well-characterised material for reproducible experiments rather than clinical application. Final suitability for any specific assay should be confirmed by the investigator.
Interleukin-13 (IL-13, UniProt P35225) is a type 2 (Th2) cytokine central to allergic inflammation and tissue remodeling. Produced mainly by activated Th2 cells, mast cells, basophils, and innate lymphoid cells, IL-13 signals through a receptor complex involving IL-13Ralpha1 paired with IL-4Ralpha, activating STAT6, while the decoy receptor IL-13Ralpha2 binds IL-13 with high affinity and limits signaling. IL-13 drives IgE class switching, goblet cell hyperplasia, mucus production, airway hyperresponsiveness, and fibrosis, and shares many activities with the closely related cytokine IL-4. It is a validated target in asthma, atopic dermatitis, and fibrotic disease. Neutralising IL-13 blocks its downstream STAT6-dependent effects, making anti-IL-13 antibodies valuable tools for dissecting type 2 immune pathways.
