Background
This product is an unconjugated, non-therapeutic recombinant analog of igovomab, an anti-MUC16 (CA125) agent, supplied strictly for research use. It is not the clinical/diagnostic agent and is not intended for human or veterinary use. Built around the MUC16 target and provided in an F(ab')2 format, it lets laboratories study CA125/MUC16 recognition without an intact Fc region, which is useful when Fc-mediated effects would otherwise confound an assay. Typical research applications include use as a binding reagent, a positive or benchmarking control in target-engagement and ELISA/flow work, an isotype- and format-matched comparator during antibody or ADC development, and a tool for in-vitro neutralisation and epitope-competition studies. The material is offered at bulk milligram-to-gram scale with low-endotoxin research grade (<1 EU/mg) and ultra-low-endotoxin (<0.5 EU/mg) options for sensitive cell-based and preclinical model work. Consistent lot-to-lot supply supports assay standardisation, screening campaigns, and reproducibility across a research programme. It carries no therapeutic claim.
MUC16 (UniProt Q8WXI7), the gene product commonly measured clinically as the CA125 antigen, is an extremely large, heavily O-glycosylated transmembrane mucin. Its architecture includes a very long extracellular region containing numerous tandem repeats, a series of SEA domains, a single transmembrane pass, and a short cytoplasmic tail. The bulky, glycan-rich ectodomain forms part of the protective mucosal barrier at epithelial surfaces and can be proteolytically shed, releasing soluble CA125 into circulation, which underlies its widespread use as a serum marker. MUC16 is expressed by coelomic-derived epithelia and is frequently overexpressed by epithelial ovarian carcinomas and some other adenocarcinomas. Through its glycans and cytoplasmic interactions it is implicated in cell adhesion, lubrication, immune modulation, and signaling that can influence tumour-cell survival and metastasis, making it a longstanding focus for oncology diagnostics and targeted-therapy research.
