Background
This product is an unconjugated, non-therapeutic recombinant analog of oregovomab, supplied strictly for research use only. It is not the clinical drug and is not intended for human or veterinary use. Oregovomab is a murine monoclonal directed against the CA125 antigen carried on MUC16, and this biosimilar analog is built around that MUC16 (CA125) binding activity to give researchers a consistent, well-characterized reagent for target-focused studies. Because it is offered unconjugated, it suits binding characterization, epitope and blocking assays, use as an isotype-matched or antigen-specific control, immune-complex and antigen-capture work, and as a starting antibody for ADC or bispecific development and downstream engineering. It is produced at research grade with low endotoxin (typically less than 1 EU/mg, with an ultra-low option under 0.5 EU/mg) and is available in bulk milligram-to-gram quantities to support in-vitro assay development, reagent standardization, and preclinical model work. Lot-to-lot consistency and defined formulation make it appropriate as an internal reference standard where reproducible anti-MUC16 binding is required across experiments. MUC16, also known as CA125, is an extremely large type-I transmembrane mucin encoded by the MUC16 gene (UniProt Q8WXI7). Its massive extracellular region carries tandem repeats bearing heavy O- and N-linked glycosylation, followed by a transmembrane domain and short cytoplasmic tail. The shed extracellular portion is the classic serum CA125 marker used clinically to monitor epithelial ovarian cancer. MUC16 contributes to a protective, lubricating mucosal barrier at ocular, respiratory, and reproductive epithelia, and modulates cell adhesion and immune recognition, in part through interaction with mesothelin, facilitating peritoneal implantation of tumor cells. It is overexpressed on ovarian and other adenocarcinomas, and its cytoplasmic tail can influence signaling and cell survival. These features make MUC16 both a diagnostic biomarker and an actively pursued antibody, ADC, and bispecific therapeutic target.
