Background
This product is an unconjugated, non-therapeutic recombinant analog of the anti-allergen antibody bremzalerbart, supplied for research use only. It is built around the same target as the originator drug, the major birch pollen allergen Bet v 1-A (BETVIA), and is expressed as a human IgG4-kappa immunoglobulin. The name follows the current WHO/INN scheme, in which the "-ler-" substem denotes an allergen-directed antibody and the "-bart" suffix a monospecific, full-length engineered immunoglobulin. It is not the clinical drug and is not intended for human or veterinary use. As a bulk, low-endotoxin reagent (research grade less than 1 EU/mg; ultra-low options less than 0.5 EU/mg) available at milligram-to-gram scale, it is well suited to preclinical and in-vitro work where a consistent, high-purity antibody against Bet v 1 is needed: as a positive or isotype-matched control, as a capture or detection reagent in immunoassays, in allergen-binding and neutralization studies, and in reagent-development pipelines. Its recombinant, animal-component-conscious manufacturing supports lot-to-lot reproducibility for method development and assay standardization.
Bet v 1-A (BETVIA) is the major allergen of European white birch (Betula pendula/verrucosa) pollen and the principal driver of birch-pollen allergy. It is a small, roughly 17 kDa protein of the pathogenesis-related PR-10 family, adopting the characteristic fold with a large hydrophobic cavity that binds ligands such as flavonoids and other small molecules. In sensitized individuals, Bet v 1 is recognized by allergen-specific IgE bound to mast cells and basophils; allergen cross-linking of surface IgE triggers degranulation and the release of histamine and other mediators, producing seasonal rhinoconjunctivitis and, in some patients, asthma. Bet v 1 also promotes Th2-skewed responses and is a frequent cause of pollen-food (oral allergy) syndrome through cross-reactivity with homologous PR-10 proteins in fruits and nuts. Because it dominates the birch IgE response, Bet v 1 is a central target for diagnostics and allergen-directed immunotherapy.
