Background
This product is an unconjugated, non-therapeutic recombinant analog of aselizumab, a humanized antibody directed against human L-selectin (CD62L, gene SELL). It is supplied as a human IgG4-kappa molecule built around the same target specificity as the originator, intended strictly for research use (RUO) and not for human or veterinary use. Because it reproduces the target-binding behavior of aselizumab without being the clinical drug, it is useful as a reference reagent for in-vitro and preclinical studies of L-selectin biology and leukocyte adhesion. Typical applications include use as a positive binding control, a benchmarking tool in ADCC or antibody-development workflows, an isotype-matched IgG4 comparator, and a neutralization reagent for probing L-selectin-dependent processes. It is available in low-endotoxin research grade (<1 EU/mg) and ultra-low endotoxin (<0.5 EU/mg) formats and can be produced at bulk mg-to-gram scale for assay development, screening campaigns, and standardized preclinical experiments requiring consistent lot-to-lot material.
L-selectin (CD62L), encoded by SELL (UniProt P14151), is a type I transmembrane C-type lectin adhesion molecule expressed on most circulating leukocytes, including naive lymphocytes, neutrophils, and monocytes. Through its N-terminal lectin domain it binds sialylated, fucosylated, and sulfated glycan ligands such as those presented by peripheral node addressins on high endothelial venules. L-selectin mediates the initial tethering and rolling of leukocytes along the vascular endothelium, the first step of the adhesion cascade that enables cells to slow down, arrest, and extravasate into lymph nodes and sites of inflammation. It also governs lymphocyte homing to secondary lymphoid organs. L-selectin is rapidly shed from the cell surface by proteolytic cleavage (notably ADAM17) upon activation, generating a soluble form and regulating adhesion dynamically.
