Background
This product is an unconjugated, non-therapeutic recombinant analog of eblasakimab, supplied for research use only. It is built as a fully human IgG4-kappa antibody directed against the human IL-13 receptor alpha 1 subunit (IL13RA1), reproducing the binding specificity of the originator so investigators have a defined, reproducible reagent for benchtop and preclinical work. Unlike anti-cytokine biosimilars that sequester a soluble ligand, this analog engages the receptor subunit itself and blocks assembly of the IL-13Ralpha1/IL-4Ralpha type II signaling complex. It is useful as a positive control in receptor-binding and neutralization assays, as a benchmarking reference against other type 2 pathway modulators, as a tool for interrogating IL-4/IL-13 signaling in cell-based systems, and as a starting reagent for ADCC/ADC or engineering studies. Material is manufactured to research grade with low endotoxin (typically <1 EU/mg, or <0.5 EU/mg for ultra-low-endotoxin lots) and is available in bulk milligram-to-gram quantities. It is not the clinical drug and is not for human or veterinary use. IL13RA1 (IL-13 receptor alpha 1, UniProt P78552) is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein that binds interleukin-13 with low affinity on its own. Its principal signaling role is as a shared component of the type II receptor: IL-13 binding recruits IL-4 receptor alpha (IL-4Ralpha), and the same IL-13Ralpha1/IL-4Ralpha heterodimer also mediates IL-4 signaling in many non-hematopoietic and myeloid cells. Assembly of this complex activates receptor-associated JAK kinases and drives phosphorylation of STAT6, the master transcription factor for type 2 (Th2) inflammatory programs. Downstream effects include IgE class switching, goblet-cell and mucus responses, and expression of chemokines such as TARC/CCL17. Because IL-13Ralpha1 sits at the convergence point of both IL-4 and IL-13 signaling through the type II receptor, blocking it can suppress both cytokines' type 2 activity. IL-13Ralpha1 is distinct from the high-affinity decoy receptor IL-13Ralpha2.
