Background
This is a research-grade biosimilar of fletikumab: an unconjugated, non-therapeutic recombinant analog of the originator anti-IL-20 antibody, built around the human IL-20 cytokine as its target and formatted as a human IgG4 (S228P-stabilized) kappa molecule. It is supplied for research use only and is not the clinical drug, nor is it intended for human or veterinary use. The reagent is useful as a well-defined, sequence-consistent tool for interrogating IL-20 biology in vitro: as a neutralizing/blocking antibody in cell-based signaling assays, as a capture or detection reagent, as an isotype-matched positive control for assay development, and as a benchmark in ligand-binding and epitope-competition studies. The IgG4 S228P backbone minimizes Fab-arm exchange and confers low effector function, which suits neutralization-focused work. It is available at bulk milligram-to-gram scale with defined endotoxin grades (research grade less than 1 EU/mg; ultra-low less than 0.5 EU/mg) to support sensitive primary-cell and functional assays and reproducible preclinical characterization. IL-20 (gene IL20; UniProt Q9NYY1) is a secreted cytokine of the IL-10 family, within the IL-19/IL-20/IL-24 subgroup. It signals through two heterodimeric receptor complexes: the type I complex IL-20RA/IL-20RB (Q9UHF5/Q6UXL0) and the type II complex IL-22RA1/IL-20RB, engaging the JAK/STAT pathway with predominant STAT3 activation. IL-20 acts largely on epithelial and other non-hematopoietic cells rather than immune cells, promoting keratinocyte proliferation and influencing tissue remodeling, angiogenesis, and inflammatory responses. It is implicated in psoriasis and other inflammatory skin conditions, as well as in bone and joint pathology such as rheumatoid arthritis, and in fibrotic and vascular processes. Because IL-19, IL-20, and IL-24 share receptor subunits, careful ligand-specific reagents are valuable for dissecting IL-20-selective contributions to disease-relevant signaling.
