This product is an unconjugated, non-therapeutic recombinant analog of belantamab, a human IgG1 monoclonal antibody directed against B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA/TNFRSF17). It is supplied for research use only and is not the clinical drug; the therapeutic originator (belantamab mafodotin) carries an MMAF payload, whereas this research-grade material is the naked antibody with no conjugated cytotoxic drug. Because it reproduces the antigen-binding specificity of the originator without the payload, it is useful as a reference binder and positive control in assays characterizing BCMA-directed biologics, and as a starting scaffold for antibody-drug-conjugate (ADC) development workflows. The human IgG1 backbone makes it suitable for studying Fc-dependent effector functions such as ADCC. Typical applications include binding and neutralization assays, flow cytometry on BCMA-expressing cell lines, and preclinical in-vitro modeling. It is offered at bulk milligram-to-gram scale with low-endotoxin, research-grade and ultra-low-endotoxin options for demanding cell-based and in-vivo standardization work. BCMA (B-cell maturation antigen), encoded by TNFRSF17 and mapped to UniProt Q02223, is a member of the tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily. It is expressed selectively on the surface of late-stage B cells and, most prominently, on terminally differentiated plasma cells, with little to no expression on naive B cells or most other tissues. BCMA binds two TNF-family ligands, APRIL (TNFSF13) and BAFF (TNFSF13B), with APRIL binding at higher affinity. Ligand engagement drives NF-kB and other survival signaling that supports plasma-cell longevity and antibody production. Because BCMA is strongly and comparatively selectively expressed on malignant plasma cells, it is a leading target in multiple myeloma, and its restricted normal-tissue distribution underlies its attractiveness for antibody-drug conjugates, bispecific T-cell engagers, and CAR-T approaches.
