Background
This product is a research-grade biosimilar of enuzovimab: an unconjugated, non-therapeutic recombinant monoclonal antibody built around the same target engaged by the originator drug, the SARS-CoV-2 spike glycoprotein. It is intended strictly for research use only and is not a clinical or therapeutic product. Enuzovimab is a fully human anti-SARS-CoV-2 neutralizing monoclonal antibody developed as a candidate treatment for COVID-19; this analog reproduces the human IgG4-kappa framework of the originator to support comparability and reference work. Supplied as a purified antibody, it is well suited as a positive control, reference standard, or binding/neutralization reagent in assays interrogating the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein and its receptor-binding domain. As with ichor.bio research antibodies, it is offered at low endotoxin and in bulk quantities suitable for demanding in-vitro and functional studies. Because the target is a viral antigen rather than a host protein, this reagent is used to characterize antibody-antigen interactions rather than to modulate host biology. Investigators should confirm suitability for their specific system and validate performance in their own assay format before use.
The target is the SARS-CoV-2 spike (S) glycoprotein, the trimeric surface protein that mediates viral entry into host cells. Spike comprises an S1 subunit, which contains the receptor-binding domain (RBD) that engages the human ACE2 receptor, and an S2 subunit, which drives membrane fusion following proteolytic priming. The RBD is the principal target of neutralizing antibodies, and antibodies that bind this region can block ACE2 engagement and thereby prevent viral attachment and entry. Because spike is essential for infectivity and is highly immunogenic, it has been the dominant focus of both vaccine design and therapeutic antibody development against SARS-CoV-2. Anti-spike neutralizing antibodies such as the enuzovimab originator were developed to bind the RBD and neutralize the virus, providing a research handle for studying spike structure, epitope mapping, and neutralization mechanisms.
