Background
This product is an unconjugated, non-therapeutic recombinant analog of eldelumab (also referred to in the literature as BMS-936557 / MDX-1100), a fully human IgG1 kappa antibody directed against the chemokine CXCL10 (IP-10). It is manufactured for research use only and is not the clinical drug, nor is it intended for human or veterinary use. Built around the CXCL10 target, it is supplied unconjugated so investigators can pair it with their own detection or conjugation chemistry. Typical applications include use as a positive control or reference reagent in binding and neutralization assays, as a benchmark in ADCC/ADC-development and antibody-engineering workflows, and as a tool for probing CXCL10-driven biology in vitro and in preclinical model systems. The reagent is offered at research grade with low endotoxin (<1 EU/mg; ultra-low <0.5 EU/mg options), in bulk mg-to-g quantities suitable for in-vitro standards, screening cascades, and larger preclinical studies. Lot-to-lot consistency and bulk availability make it a practical, lower-cost stand-in for the originator molecule in discovery settings.
CXCL10, also called interferon-gamma-induced protein 10 (IP-10), is a small (~10 kDa) CXC chemokine of the ELR-negative subfamily. It is induced strongly by IFN-gamma, and to a lesser extent by IFN-alpha/beta and TNF, in monocytes, endothelial cells, fibroblasts, and keratinocytes. CXCL10 signals through the G-protein-coupled receptor CXCR3, which is expressed on activated Th1 lymphocytes, CD8 T cells, NK cells, and NKT cells. Together with the related ligands CXCL9 (MIG) and CXCL11 (I-TAC), it drives chemotaxis and recruitment of these effector cells to sites of inflammation, and contributes to Th1 polarization and angiostasis. Elevated CXCL10 is associated with numerous immune-mediated and inflammatory conditions, making the CXCL10-CXCR3 axis a widely studied target in autoimmunity, chronic inflammation, transplant rejection, and antiviral immunity.
