Background
This is the N418 clone, an Armenian hamster IgG raised against mouse CD11c (integrin alpha-X, UniProt Q9QXH4) and produced in Armenian hamster host. N418 is one of the most widely used and best-characterised anti-mouse CD11c antibodies, valued as a defining marker for dendritic cells and validated across Flow Cytometry, Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation, IHC (Frozen), Immunofluorescence, Immunocytochemistry and ELISA. This preparation is manufactured for in vivo and functional immunology research: it is supplied at low endotoxin (research grade typically less than 1 EU/mg, with ultra-low-endotoxin options at less than 0.5 EU/mg) to limit confounding innate immune activation, and is available in bulk milligram-to-gram quantities suitable for multi-cohort mouse studies and repeat dosing. The antibody is provided for Research Use Only. Its hamster-anti-mouse format makes it appropriate for studies of dendritic cell biology, antigen delivery to DCs, and myeloid-lineage identification in mouse tumour, infection, autoimmunity and vaccine models where reagent purity and consistency across large in vivo experiments matter. CD11c (integrin alpha-X, ITGAX) is a type I transmembrane alpha integrin subunit that pairs non-covalently with the beta-2 integrin CD18 (ITGB2) to form the complement receptor 4 (CR4, alpha-X-beta-2) heterodimer. It binds ligands including the complement fragment iC3b, ICAM-1, fibrinogen and denatured proteins, contributing to leukocyte adhesion, phagocytosis and cell-cell interactions. In the mouse, CD11c is expressed most highly on conventional dendritic cells, where it serves as the canonical lineage-identifying marker, and is also found at lower levels on subsets of macrophages, monocytes, NK cells and some activated lymphocytes. Because of its strong association with dendritic cells, CD11c is central to studies of antigen presentation, T-cell priming and the initiation of adaptive immunity, and CD11c-driven systems are widely used to identify, image and manipulate DC populations in immunological research.
