Background
This product is an unconjugated, non-therapeutic recombinant analog of olinvacimab, a fully human monoclonal antibody built around the extracellular domain of human VEGFR-2 (KDR). It is supplied for research use only and is not the clinical drug, nor is it intended for human or veterinary use. The analog reproduces the binding specificity of the originator antibody, which recognises the N-terminal ligand-binding region of VEGFR-2 and blocks engagement by VEGF-A, VEGF-C and VEGF-D, making it a useful tool for interrogating VEGF/VEGFR-2 angiogenic signalling in vitro. Typical research applications include use as a positive control or reference reagent in receptor-binding and ligand-neutralisation assays, as a benchmarking tool alongside other anti-angiogenic reagents, and as a building block for ADCC, biosimilarity and antibody-engineering workflows. It is offered at research grade with low endotoxin (<1 EU/mg; ultra-low <0.5 EU/mg options), in an unconjugated format suitable for in-vitro and preclinical model work, and is available in bulk milligram-to-gram quantities to support assay development and screening campaigns. KDR (kinase insert domain receptor), also known as VEGFR-2 or FLK1, is the principal signalling receptor for the pro-angiogenic effects of vascular endothelial growth factor. It is a single-pass type I receptor tyrosine kinase expressed predominantly on vascular and lymphatic endothelium, comprising seven extracellular immunoglobulin-like domains, a transmembrane region and a split intracellular kinase domain. Binding of VEGF-A (and, for the receptor's roles in lymphangiogenesis, VEGF-C and VEGF-D) drives receptor dimerisation and autophosphorylation, activating downstream PLC-gamma/ERK, PI3K/AKT and other cascades. This promotes endothelial cell proliferation, migration, survival, vascular permeability and new blood-vessel formation. Because VEGFR-2 is a central node in tumour angiogenesis and other vasculature-driven pathologies, it is a heavily studied target for anti-angiogenic strategies.
