Background
This product is an unconjugated, non-therapeutic recombinant analog of obexelimab, supplied for research use only. Obexelimab is an Fc-engineered monoclonal antibody whose antigen-binding region recognises human CD19; its distinguishing feature is an inhibitory Fc domain engineered for high-affinity engagement of the inhibitory Fc-gamma receptor FcgammaRIIb, allowing it to co-ligate CD19 with FcgammaRIIb and dampen B-cell activation without depleting cells. This research-grade analog is built around the CD19-binding specificity and is intended as a laboratory reagent, not the clinical drug and not for human or veterinary use. It is useful as a positive/isotype-matched control in binding and neutralisation assays, for studying CD19 biology and B-cell inhibitory signalling in vitro, as a benchmarking tool alongside other anti-CD19 reagents, and in antibody-engineering or preclinical assay development. It is offered unconjugated at research grade with low endotoxin (<1 EU/mg; ultra-low <0.5 EU/mg), and can be provided in bulk milligram-to-gram quantities as an in-vivo-standard-format reagent for scaled experimental workflows.
CD19 (B-lymphocyte antigen CD19; UniProt P15391) is a single-pass type I transmembrane glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin superfamily expressed throughout B-cell development, from pro-B cells through mature B cells and plasmablasts, but absent on most terminally differentiated plasma cells and on hematopoietic stem cells. It functions as a co-receptor that lowers the threshold for B-cell receptor (BCR) signalling: together with CD21, CD81 and CD225 it forms the B-cell co-receptor complex, and its cytoplasmic tyrosine motifs recruit PI3K, Lyn and Vav upon phosphorylation, amplifying BCR-driven activation, proliferation and survival. Because its expression is broad and B-lineage-restricted, CD19 is a central marker and therapeutic target in B-cell malignancies and autoimmune disease, addressed by antibodies, bispecifics and CAR-T approaches.
