Background
This product is an unconjugated, non-therapeutic recombinant analog of fiztasovimab (also known in the literature as NPC-21 / EV2038), supplied for research use only. Fiztasovimab is a fully human IgG1 (lambda light chain) monoclonal antibody directed against human cytomegalovirus (HCMV), targeting the viral envelope glycoprotein B (gB) and, more precisely, antigenic domain 1 (AD-1). The recombinant analog reproduces the antigen-binding specificity of the originator around this target, making it a useful tool for laboratory work on HCMV entry, neutralization, and antibody-mediated effector biology. Typical research applications include use as a positive/reference control in gB-directed binding and neutralization assays, as a benchmarking reagent for biosimilar or antibody-engineering programs, and as a defined input in preclinical, in-vitro model systems. It is available at research grade with low endotoxin (<1 EU/mg; ultra-low <0.5 EU/mg options) and can be produced in bulk (mg to gram scale) to support screening, assay development, and standardization. This is not the clinical drug and is not intended for human or veterinary use. Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV, also called human herpesvirus 5) is a large, enveloped, double-stranded DNA betaherpesvirus that establishes lifelong latency after primary infection. In immunocompetent hosts infection is usually asymptomatic, but HCMV is a major cause of morbidity in immunocompromised individuals, including solid-organ and hematopoietic stem cell transplant recipients, and is a leading infectious cause of congenital disease. Viral entry into host cells depends on a set of envelope glycoproteins; glycoprotein B (gB) is the conserved fusogen essential for membrane fusion and works together with the gH/gL complex and, for epithelial/endothelial tropism, the pentameric complex (gH/gL/UL128-131). Antigenic domain 1 (AD-1) of gB is a major target of neutralizing antibodies. Because gB is required for entry and cell-to-cell spread, it is a central antigen for antibody-based neutralization studies and vaccine research.
