Background
This product is an unconjugated, non-therapeutic recombinant analog of emibetuzumab, an anti-MET (hepatocyte growth factor receptor) antibody built around the human MET target (UniProt P08581). It is supplied for research use only and is not the clinical drug, nor is it intended for human or veterinary use. Formatted as a human IgG4 (S228P/F234A/L235A/KDel) kappa molecule, it reproduces the binding specificity of the originator while serving as a defined, reproducible reagent for laboratory work. Typical applications include target-binding and blocking assays, use as an isotype-matched or antigen-specific control, receptor-biology studies, and preclinical in-vitro and in-vivo model development. It is offered at research grade with low endotoxin (<1 EU/mg; ultra-low <0.5 EU/mg options), and in bulk milligram-to-gram quantities to support scale-up, assay standardization, and lot-to-lot consistency. Because it is a purified, well-characterized biosimilar analog rather than a formulated therapeutic, it provides a cost-effective, consistent tool for benchmarking, method development, and comparative studies of MET-directed antibodies.
MET is a receptor tyrosine kinase (the HGF receptor, encoded by MET, UniProt P08581) expressed on epithelial cells. Its only known high-affinity ligand is hepatocyte growth factor/scatter factor (HGF/SF). Ligand binding promotes receptor dimerization and trans-autophosphorylation of the intracellular kinase domain, recruiting adaptors such as GAB1 and GRB2 and activating downstream RAS-MAPK, PI3K-AKT, and STAT3 signaling. This drives proliferation, survival, motility, scattering, and morphogenesis, and is central to development and tissue regeneration. Aberrant MET activation, through gene amplification, activating mutations, MET exon 14 skipping, or ligand overexpression, contributes to tumor growth, invasion, metastasis, and resistance to other targeted therapies, making MET an extensively studied oncology target. MET is synthesized as a single chain that is cleaved into disulfide-linked alpha and beta subunits.
