Background
This product is a research-grade biosimilar of Cirevetmab: an unconjugated, non-therapeutic monoclonal analog supplied for research use only. It is built around the originator's target, transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGFB1), and shares the originator's IgG2-kappa framework. The reference molecule Cirevetmab (development code ZTS-00521426) is a caninized anti-TGFB1 immunomodulatory antibody; this biosimilar reproduces its target-binding specificity for laboratory investigation rather than clinical or veterinary use. As with all ichor.bio biosimilars, the product is intended as a standardized, well-characterized binding reagent for in-vitro and functional assays, comparability studies, and as a positive or reference control. Note that the catalogue record lists the human TGFB1 accession (P01137) and species "Human," whereas the originator is directed against canine TGFB1; ichor.bio should verify the validated reactive species. It is offered at research-grade endotoxin (<1 EU/mg). It is not a clinical drug, is not conjugated, and carries no defined hybridoma clone designation. Batch documentation and target/isotype details should be reviewed for the intended application. Transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF-beta 1, gene TGFB1) is a secreted, disulfide-linked homodimeric cytokine and the prototypic member of the TGF-beta superfamily. It is produced as a latent complex bound to latency-associated peptide and, once activated, signals through the TGF-beta type I and type II receptor serine/threonine kinases to phosphorylate SMAD2/3, driving transcriptional programs that control cell proliferation, differentiation, extracellular matrix deposition, and immune tolerance. TGF-beta 1 is a central immunosuppressive and profibrotic mediator: it restrains effector T-cell and NK-cell activity, promotes regulatory T-cell induction, and contributes to tumor immune evasion and tissue fibrosis. Because of these roles, TGFB1 is a heavily pursued target in immuno-oncology and fibrosis research. The mature cytokine is strongly conserved across mammals, so antibodies raised against one species' TGFB1 often cross-react, though epitope-level reactivity should always be confirmed for the intended species.
