Background
This product is a research-grade recombinant analog of fezakinumab, an anti-IL-22 monoclonal antibody, supplied for laboratory research use only. It is a non-therapeutic biosimilar reproducing the antigen-binding specificity of the originator molecule (a human IgG1 lambda directed against interleukin-22), enabling investigators to study IL-22 neutralisation and IL-22-driven signalling without sourcing clinical material. It is unconjugated and intended for functional and biochemical work: cytokine capture and blocking assays, ELISA and surface-plasmon-resonance binding characterisation, receptor-blockade and reporter-cell neutralisation studies, positive/isotype-matched controls, and as a benchmark reagent in preclinical models of epithelial and inflammatory disease. Manufactured to research specifications with low endotoxin (research grade <1 EU/mg; ultra-low <0.5 EU/mg options) and available in bulk milligram-to-gram quantities to support screening campaigns, assay development, and in-vivo standardisation. Because it targets the human cytokine, it is well suited to human-cell and humanised-system work. It is not the clinical drug and is not for human or veterinary therapeutic use. Interleukin-22 (IL-22) is a member of the IL-10 cytokine family, produced chiefly by Th17 and Th22 cells, gamma-delta T cells, NK/ILC3 innate lymphoid cells, and NKT cells. Unlike many immune cytokines it acts primarily on non-haematopoietic cells: it signals through a heterodimeric receptor comprising IL-22RA1 and IL-10RB, whose expression is largely restricted to epithelial tissues of the skin, gut, lung, liver, kidney and pancreas. Receptor engagement activates JAK1/TYK2 and predominantly STAT3, inducing antimicrobial peptides, mucins, proliferative and tissue-repair programmes. IL-22 thus supports epithelial barrier defence and regeneration, but sustained signalling drives pathological keratinocyte proliferation and inflammation, notably in psoriasis and atopic dermatitis. A soluble decoy, IL-22 binding protein (IL-22BP/IL22RA2), tunes its bioavailability.
