Background
This product is an unconjugated, non-therapeutic recombinant analog of efalizumab, supplied for research use only. It is a human IgG1 kappa antibody built around the same target recognised by the originator drug, the alpha-L integrin subunit CD11a (ITGAL). It is not the clinical drug and is not intended for human or veterinary use. The molecule is useful as a reference or benchmarking reagent in CD11a/LFA-1 biology, giving researchers a defined tool to probe leukocyte adhesion, T-cell activation, and integrin-dependent trafficking. Typical applications include in-vitro binding and blocking assays, competition studies against other anti-CD11a reagents, use as an isotype-matched positive control, and support for antibody-engineering or biosimilar-characterisation workflows. It is offered at research grade with low endotoxin (<1 EU/mg; ultra-low <0.5 EU/mg options), and in bulk milligram-to-gram quantities suitable for assay development, screening campaigns, and preclinical characterisation. Format and buffer can generally be specified to fit downstream functional or analytical requirements. Guidance for ichorbio to review before publication. CD11a is the alpha-L integrin subunit (ITGAL, gene ITGAL; UniProt P20701) that pairs non-covalently with CD18 (beta-2, ITGB2) to form lymphocyte function-associated antigen-1 (LFA-1), a member of the beta-2 integrin family. LFA-1 is expressed on essentially all leukocytes and mediates firm adhesion by binding intercellular adhesion molecules, principally ICAM-1 (CD54), as well as ICAM-2 and ICAM-3. Through this interaction it drives leukocyte arrest on endothelium, extravasation into tissue, formation of the immunological synapse between T cells and antigen-presenting cells, and co-stimulatory signalling that supports T-cell activation and effector function. LFA-1 undergoes conformational activation ("inside-out" signalling) that increases its affinity for ICAM ligands. Because CD11a is central to T-cell trafficking and activation, it is a validated node in inflammatory and autoimmune biology and a well-characterised research target.
