This product is an unconjugated, non-therapeutic recombinant analog of the anti-CGRP antibody eptinezumab, produced for research use only. It is built around the same target specificity as the originator drug, binding the alpha and beta forms of calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP), the neuropeptides encoded by CALCA and CALCB. Supplied as a human IgG1 (N297A aglycosylation variant) kappa antibody, the Fc modification reduces Fc-gamma-receptor and complement engagement, which is useful when a purely ligand-neutralizing reagent without effector function is desired. It is not the clinical formulation and is not intended for human or veterinary use. The reagent is well suited to in-vitro and preclinical work: CGRP neutralization assays, ligand-binding and epitope-mapping studies, receptor-signaling blockade experiments, isotype/pathway controls, and as a benchmarking tool against other anti-CGRP or anti-receptor reagents. It is available at research grade with low endotoxin (typically <1 EU/mg), with ultra-low-endotoxin (<0.5 EU/mg) and bulk milligram-to-gram quantities for standardized, scalable studies.
Calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) exists as two closely related isoforms: alpha-CGRP, generated by alternative splicing of the CALCA gene (which also encodes calcitonin and katacalcin; UniProt P01258), and beta-CGRP, encoded by the separate CALCB gene (UniProt P10092). Both are 37-amino-acid neuropeptides that differ by only a few residues and share largely overlapping bioactivity. CGRP is one of the most potent known vasodilators and is widely distributed in sensory and central neurons. It signals through the CGRP receptor, a complex of the calcitonin receptor-like receptor (CALCRL) and receptor activity-modifying protein 1 (RAMP1), coupling to Gs and cAMP. In the trigeminovascular system, CGRP release drives vasodilation, neurogenic inflammation, and nociceptive signaling, making it a central mediator implicated in migraine pathophysiology.
