Background
This product is an unconjugated, non-therapeutic recombinant analog of oloctinebart, a human IgG4-kappa monoclonal antibody directed against human Galectin-3 (LGALS3). It is supplied for research use only and is not the clinical drug, nor is it intended for human or veterinary use. As a research-grade biosimilar, it reproduces the antigen-binding specificity of the originator against Galectin-3, making it a useful, consistent reagent for characterizing Galectin-3 biology and for reference or benchmarking work alongside internally developed anti-Galectin-3 antibodies. Typical applications include serving as a positive control or comparator in binding and neutralization assays, in vitro functional studies, and preclinical antibody-development workflows such as epitope mapping, affinity ranking, and assay standardization. It is produced as an intact IgG4-kappa immunoglobulin. Material is available at low endotoxin (research grade below 1 EU/mg; ultra-low-endotoxin option below 0.5 EU/mg) and in bulk milligram-to-gram quantities to support scale-up and reproducible experimental use. It is offered as an in-vivo-standard-grade reagent for preclinical model work where a human-sequence antibody is appropriate.
Galectin-3 (LGALS3, UniProt P17931) is the only chimera-type member of the galectin family of beta-galactoside-binding lectins. It combines a C-terminal carbohydrate-recognition domain that binds N-acetyllactosamine-containing glycans with an N-terminal collagen-like domain that enables oligomerization and lattice formation on cell surfaces. Galectin-3 is expressed by epithelial cells, macrophages, and many other cell types, and it shuttles between the cytoplasm, nucleus, and extracellular space. Functionally it modulates cell adhesion, glycoprotein receptor clustering and signaling, apoptosis, and mRNA splicing. Extracellularly it drives inflammation, fibrosis, and tissue remodeling, and it influences immune-cell activation and tumor progression. Galectin-3 has been studied as a biomarker and therapeutic target in fibrotic disease, heart failure, cancer, and neuroinflammation, where its lattice-forming and pro-inflammatory activities are implicated in disease mechanisms.
