Background
This product is an unconjugated, non-therapeutic recombinant analog of keliximab, an anti-CD4 monoclonal antibody originally developed as a human/primate chimeric ("primatized") IgG1 for immunomodulation. The analog is built around the same CD4 target specificity and is supplied strictly for research use only; it is not the clinical drug and is not intended for human or veterinary use. Because it is offered unlabeled (no conjugate), it suits a wide range of laboratory workflows: as a CD4-directed binding reagent, as an isotype-matched positive control in blocking and neutralisation assays, as a benchmarking or reference antibody when characterising other anti-CD4 clones, and as a starting material for ADCC or antibody-drug-conjugate development studies. It is produced as a recombinant protein and available at low endotoxin (research grade <1 EU/mg; ultra-low <0.5 EU/mg) and in bulk milligram-to-gram quantities to support in-vitro assays, preclinical model work, and formulation or manufacturing studies. Standard research-grade quality and lot documentation support reproducible experimental use.
CD4 (UniProt P01730) is a single-chain, ~55 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein with four extracellular immunoglobulin-like domains (D1-D4), a transmembrane segment, and a short cytoplasmic tail. It is expressed on helper T lymphocytes and, at lower levels, on monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. CD4 functions as a co-receptor for the T-cell receptor: its membrane-distal D1 domain binds the non-polymorphic beta-2 region of MHC class II on antigen-presenting cells, stabilising the TCR-peptide-MHC interaction. Its cytoplasmic tail associates non-covalently with the Src-family kinase Lck, delivering the tyrosine kinase to the immunological synapse to drive T-cell activation signalling. CD4 is central to adaptive immunity and is also the primary cellular receptor exploited by HIV-1, whose envelope glycoprotein gp120 engages the D1 domain.
