Background
This product is an unconjugated, non-therapeutic recombinant analog of opelkibart, a monoclonal antibody directed against human KIT (CD117 / c-Kit, UniProt P10721). It is supplied as a research-grade biosimilar for research use only; it is not the clinical drug and is not intended for human or veterinary use. Built around the well-established KIT target, the analog is useful as a defined, sequence-consistent reagent for benchmarking anti-KIT binders, as a positive or reference control in receptor-binding and blocking assays, and as a tool for probing KIT-dependent signaling in vitro. Because KIT is central to hematopoietic stem/progenitor biology, mast cells, and several KIT-driven malignancies, the analog supports antibody-characterization workflows, epitope-competition studies, ADCC and antibody-drug-conjugate development platforms, and preclinical cell-based models. It is offered unconjugated to preserve flexibility for downstream labeling or conjugation. Available at low-endotoxin research grade (typically under 1 EU/mg, with ultra-low-endotoxin options under 0.5 EU/mg) and in bulk milligram-to-gram quantities to support scale-up and reproducibility across experiments. Human IgG1/kappa format. KIT (CD117, c-Kit; UniProt P10721) is a type III receptor tyrosine kinase and the receptor for stem cell factor (SCF). SCF binding drives receptor dimerization, autophosphorylation of intracellular tyrosines, and activation of downstream PI3K/AKT, RAS/MAPK, and JAK/STAT pathways that govern proliferation, survival, differentiation, and migration. KIT is essential for hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells, mast cells, germ cells, melanocytes, and the interstitial cells of Cajal. Constitutively activating KIT mutations and overexpression drive several malignancies, including gastrointestinal stromal tumors, systemic mastocytosis, subsets of acute myeloid leukemia, and some melanomas, making KIT a well-validated oncology and hematology target. Its extracellular immunoglobulin-like domains mediate SCF engagement and are the region antibodies typically target for receptor blockade.
