Background
This product is an unconjugated, non-therapeutic recombinant analog of the originator anti-HIV-1 antibody Lafuvitug, produced for research use only. It is a full-length human IgG1, kappa monoclonal built around the same intended HIV-1 target as the originator drug and is supplied unconjugated. It is manufactured as a research reagent, not as the clinical product, and is intended for functional and biochemical studies rather than therapy: as a binding and neutralization tool against HIV-1 envelope, as a positive/isotype-matched control in ADCC, ADCP and Fc-effector assays, as a reference antibody for developing antibody-drug conjugates and bispecifics, and as a benchmark in preclinical in-vitro and cell-based models. Low-endotoxin formats support sensitive cell assays: research grade at less than 1 EU/mg and an ultra-low option at less than 0.5 EU/mg. Available in bulk milligram-to-gram quantities to support assay development, screening and lot-to-lot standardization. Not for human or veterinary use. Not the clinical drug. HIV-1 (human immunodeficiency virus type 1) is an enveloped retrovirus of the Lentivirus genus and the primary cause of AIDS. Its RNA genome encodes structural (Gag), enzymatic (Pol: reverse transcriptase, integrase, protease) and envelope (Env) proteins plus regulatory and accessory factors (Tat, Rev, Nef, Vif, Vpr, Vpu). The trimeric Env spike, comprising gp120 and gp41 cleaved from the gp160 precursor, mediates attachment to CD4 and the coreceptors CCR5 or CXCR4 and drives membrane fusion and cell entry. Env is heavily glycosylated and highly variable, which underlies immune evasion. Antibody-based HIV-1 research most often targets conserved Env epitopes such as the CD4-binding site, V3-glycan, V1/V2 apex and the gp41 membrane-proximal external region; these are the focus of broadly neutralizing antibody discovery and vaccine work.
