Background
This is an unconjugated, non-therapeutic recombinant analog of frunevetmab (the originator behind Solensia), a felinized anti-nerve growth factor (NGF) monoclonal antibody. Supplied as a feline IgG1-kappa antibody built around the NGF target, it is intended strictly for research use only (RUO) and is not the clinical veterinary product; it is not for feline, other animal, or human use. The molecule binds and sequesters NGF, blocking NGF engagement of its receptors, making it a useful tool for studying neurotrophin biology, NGF-driven nociceptor sensitization, and pain-pathway pharmacology in in-vitro assays and preclinical models. Typical research applications include positive/reference controls in NGF neutralization and ligand-binding assays, benchmarking of anti-NGF biologics, ADCC/effector-function characterization, and antibody-engineering or assay-development work. It is offered at research grade with low endotoxin (<1 EU/mg; ultra-low <0.5 EU/mg options), in bulk milligram-to-gram quantities suitable for in-vivo standards and scaled experimentation. No clone identity is implied; the reagent is defined by its target specificity and IgG1-kappa framework. Nerve growth factor (NGF) is the prototypical neurotrophin, a secreted growth factor essential for the development, survival, and maintenance of sympathetic and sensory neurons. Mature NGF signals through two receptors: the high-affinity receptor tyrosine kinase TrkA (NTRK1), which drives neurotrophic and pro-nociceptive signaling, and the lower-affinity p75 neurotrophin receptor (p75NTR/NGFR), a TNF-receptor superfamily member that modulates survival and apoptotic signaling and can bind proNGF preferentially. In adult tissues, NGF is released by inflammatory and injured cells and is a key mediator of peripheral nociceptor sensitization, contributing to hyperalgesia and allodynia in inflammatory and osteoarthritic pain. Feline NGF is the species ortholog relevant to this reagent; the mature protein is highly conserved across mammals, so sequestering NGF prevents TrkA/p75NTR engagement and downstream pain signaling. NGF is therefore a central node in neurotrophin biology and analgesic drug discovery.
