Background
This product is an unconjugated, non-therapeutic recombinant analog of palivizumab, supplied for research use only. Palivizumab is a humanized IgG1 monoclonal antibody directed against the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) fusion (F) glycoprotein, and this biosimilar reproduces that antigen-binding specificity in a research-grade format rather than as a clinical product. It is useful as a defined, reproducible anti-RSV-F reagent for in-vitro and preclinical work: as a positive binding control, a benchmarking standard against novel anti-F candidates, a neutralization reference, or a tool for ADCC and antibody-engineering (for example ADC or bispecific) development pipelines. Because it is a human IgG1, it also serves as an isotype-matched reference for Fc-dependent effector assays. It is offered at low endotoxin (research grade less than 1 EU/mg; ultra-low less than 0.5 EU/mg) and in bulk milligram-to-gram quantities suitable for in-vivo-standard studies. It is not the clinical drug and is not intended for human or veterinary therapeutic use. Content is provided for ichorbio review.
The RSV fusion (F) glycoprotein is a class I viral fusion protein on the surface of respiratory syncytial virus that mediates fusion of the viral envelope with the host cell membrane, enabling entry and also driving cell-to-cell fusion (syncytium formation). F is synthesized as an inactive precursor (F0) that is cleaved into disulfide-linked F1 and F2 subunits and undergoes a large conformational rearrangement from a metastable prefusion state to a stable postfusion state to power membrane merger. Unlike the attachment G protein, F is highly conserved across RSV subtypes A and B, making it the principal target for prophylactic antibodies and vaccines. Palivizumab binds antigenic site II (site A) on the F protein, a region present on both prefusion and postfusion conformations, and neutralizes virus by blocking the fusion step required for productive infection.
Specificity
Detects human RSV-F. This non-therapeutic antibody uses the same sequence as the therapeutic antibody Palivizumab.
Purification Method
This monoclonal antibody was purified using multi-step affinity chromatography methods such as Protein A or G depending on the species and isotype.
Formulation
Sterile, preservative-free, solution in PBS. BSA and Azide free.
Storage
This biosimilar is stable when stored at 2-8°C. For longer term storage (> 3 months) it is recommended to store this antibody at -20°C or -70°C.
Applications
Functional Assays
Application Notes
This biosimilar is for research use only (RUO): it is not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures and cannot be purchased by patients.
