International Day of Women and Girls in Science
Today is The International Day of Women and Girls in Science and the ichorbio team would like to celebrate every single woman working in science. 👩🔬
Despite progress in recent years, the underrepresentation of women and girls in STEM subjects remains a persistent challenge: just one in three researchers is a woman, and women account for only 35% of graduates in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM)-related fields.
This is due to a range of factors, including gender stereotypes and bias, lack of access to quality education and resources, and limited representation of women in leadership positions.
To address this issue, it is imperative that we continue to encourage and support girls to pursue careers in STEM subjects and create a more inclusive and diverse scientific community. This includes providing equal educational opportunities, promoting female role models in STEM, and addressing the unconscious biases that persist in the field. Only then can we truly tap into the full potential of women and girls in science and make a lasting impact on the world.
As a company that is owned and run by a women majority we are aware of our responsibility to drive towards equality in the industry and we will continue to work hard to do so.
